Hey Melody!
Great tips on organizing the desktop! I hadn’t thought of doing it like that. I tend to use Windows Explorer and always have a window open to My Documents or something like that, but having the stuff I use all the time on the Desktop would definitely help me minimize the number of windows open at a time!
Thanks for the tip!

Hey Shay!
Did you ever doubt me????

Hi Melody,
I used to be organized but as I acquire more files and varied types of hardware – I have a hard time decided where and how to store things. For instance – photos. I have a CoolPix and when I download picturess to the PC the storage program that comes up is Nikon Transfer. I save the pics without any problems but then when I want to Email a photo – I can’t seem to find the pictures and when I do they are not in JPEG so I can’t Email them. Can you discuss how to save pics from a digital camera in a format that they can be Emailed in?
Thanks for your solutions!

Hey Eve!
I am researching this, but need to know which CoolPix you are using.
Before you download your pictures, create a file folder in your computer storage area with the name of the activity, date, or type of pictures you’ve taken. Download them to this specific file. You will need to individually rename each picture. I usually do this when I am editing and reviewing the pics.
I will try to figure out why your pictures are not being saved in GIF (Or another interchangeable format) so you can email them.

So funny I just got done revamping my desktop icons strategy. I have always created by own backgrounds with text overlays with affirmations, goals etc. But this time I took it to the next level by adding boxes to organize my icons over. I then went in search of a Sticky Note program to make notes on and found http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies which is just amazing. I am so happy with it but I know that I will keep tweeking it as time goes on.

Also you know how you can find things visually faster than just reading text? I use http://www.htmlkit.com/services/favicon/ to create icons to use as the image of file shortcuts.

Hi Karissa!
Thanks so much for sharing more tips on how to organize your icons into boxes. Love that idea!
Yes! Yes! Yes! So many of us are visual people. Image icons, instead of file shortcuts, is an awesome way to identify items more quickly than just reading the text.
I’m excited that you shared your knowledge and links!
Thank YOU!
Melody
Hey Karissa,
Love, Love, Love the boxes on your screen. That is a cool picture. I already want to try it out. Your set up is fantastic. Congrats!

Your welcome Melody!
I have a bunch of user interface tweeks that I do and a ton of programs/services that I use but still figuring out the best way to share them.
