The #1 Fear of An Uber Organized Business Woman

May 31, 2012

Fear Filled Business Woman

Being uber-organized is a dream for many business women!  The sweet freedom from overwhelm, wasted time, incomplete tasks, and feeling like a fool for dreaming so big…  who the heck were they kidding, but themselves!?!

Disorganization and mismanaged time can often mask the #1 fear that seems to be lying deep within so many entrepreneurs.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
Marianne Williamson

I’ve heard from and worked with hundreds of women who are excited about de-cluttering, organizing, and creating healthy habits to grow a thriving, money-making business.  As things begin to shape up, they feel elated, relieved, and hardly know what to do with themselves.  Then…a monster enters most of their heads (even if just for a moment)…it’s more fears…and thoughts start silently chattering non-sense like this…

“I won’t really be able to keep this up.  It will be just a matter of time before piles re-appear.”

“I don’t trust myself to stick to my systems.  Something will happen to throw me off track and I’ll let it be a valid excuse.”

“If I go all the way with setting up systems, then I’ll have NO EXCUSE not to grow.  Holy Crap!  I thought it was exciting, but it’s kinda scary.”

If you’ve ever said to yourself…

If I could just get everything organized, I promise I could keep it up.  BUT, in the back of your mind you start doubting yourself (because let’s face it…you’ve organized things before), then I want you to look a little bit deeper.  No, not in your stacks of stuff lined up along the wall.  Look deeper within your self…your brain, your body, your emotions.

In fact, ask yourself this one question…

Do I Need A Reason to Not Shine My Light Because On The Other Side Of HUGE Success is A Concept that Feels Foreign – FREEDOM -  freedom to REALLY Buy Whatever I Want, Spend My Time In Deliriously Happy Ways, or Become Known By Mere Strangers?

Although there are real life reasons that entrepreneurs become disorganized or accumulate more items than necessary to grow a business, there may be times that a fear of success sneaks in, as well.  It is the #1 fear that seems to show up over and over again as business owners take exciting, yet often terrifying steps to grow a healthy, prosperous business.  (And I’ve been the biggest scaredy cat of all.)  I want you to know, that it’s not so scary on the other side.  It’s really peaceful.

Are you experiencing disorganization, mismanagement of time, or procrastination that’s being fueled by some type of fear OR is there some other barrier preventing you from accomplishing what you’d like?  If you need help organizing and getting to the other side, then contact me and tell me what’s frustrating you or keeping you stuck.  There’s no better time than now to get help.

You’re probably beyond ready to design an office that helps you SHINE and change your life.

I don’t think I’ve had this fear over getting organized, though it’s definitely popped up in other areas (getting my website done). The other side is soooo much better! Thanks Melody for helping me get there. I love it!

Great article thanks! I never made the correlation between lack of organizing and fear of success. I definitely see that being disorganized – can lead to procrasination and distraction from what is truly important.

Yep, it sure can, Gretchen! Sometimes a fear of success (or can I handle more? can I really do this?) isn’t easy to identify because there is a lot going on and happening in a person’s life. When looking back, recognition of different fears is more apparent. That’s why they say “Hindsight is 20/20.”
