I Love My Home-Based Business
Hey There! I’m Melody.
I Love My Home-Based Business
I am an outdoorsy, jean wearing fool. I do enjoy jazzing up my jeans with a fun top & heels or slipping into a nice feeling pair of slacks, but jeans are my downfall.
I also love digging in the dirt and walking barefoot in the grass.
I gather my energy from planting flowers, mowing the grass, power washing anything, or sleeping the day away. I’m generally a happy, optimistic person. I love hanging out at home and traveling to visit with friends and family.
My Story. How I became an Organizer.
My Daughters Love to Have Fun
As I worked a full-time “real” job, tried to keep up with my home, and maintain a healthy relationship with my husband, two daughters, huge family, and social life, I became super overwhelmed.
Add to that, I began resenting the fact that I had to “request” a day off to attend my children’s school functions or family events. Put it all together and I was not an entirely happy camper. It was time for a change.
My organizing journey began when I read ONE question from a business book. The doors blew wide open and I walked through.
Wanna know what the question was?
What is one thing that you have done FOR FREE for family, friends, and in the workplace that you enjoyed doing even if it was not required of you?
My answer:
Lend them a helping hand when they were feeling down, unmotivated, or overwhelmed.
I would empty their closets, sort their piles, find a home for their things… You guessed it – organize them. I had no idea how disorganization was affecting their quality of life. I only knew that helping them change their space just felt like the right thing to do.
The truth is, I knew that a spacious, appealing home felt good, but I had never researched how to get organized or studied the “why” behind it.
I became my first official client. I learned, applied, and tested out many different techniques. I dug deep into my life and space. I made large and small changes.
My results were absolutely stunning! I felt like a different person. And I’m talking about the emotional results. The visual results are just a bonus.
I KNEW if I felt this way, then there must be millions of others that would love to feel this way, too. Don’t you think so too? I gave my two weeks notice, rearranged my finances, and flew to Chicago to attend and participate in my first organizing conference. (It was my first time flying too! All by myself. S.C.A.R.Y., yet exciting.)
Over the years I learned that getting organized doesn’t have to be so darn complicated. In fact, it’s simpler than you may think.
Once you get clear on how you want your home to look and feel, have clarity on the lifestyle you want, and have a smidgen of hope, then making decisions on what to let go of and what to keep becomes sooooo much easier.
Family Fun!
Personally, after freeing myself from “things”, I became more carefree, less anxious, and much friendlier. (Not that I was a biatch or anything, but I was having a hard time keeping up with all our stuff, not to mention life.)
The best benefits I continue to receive are clarity, confidence, calmness, less time cleaning and more time & motivation to do the things I want to do in my life.
Getting organized and staying that way gets easier and easier. Don’t doubt what you are capable of.
